Ice cream, boats, killer weather, and beautiful views of Seattle? Sounds like an opportunity we didn’t want to pass on. About two months ago, we read in the Seattle Times about Captain Larry Kezner and his Sunday Ice Cream Cruise on Lake Union. We kept thinking about it but never acted on it. With the near 100 degree last Sunday, we knew had to take get the kids out and hit the lake with ice cream in hand.
The cruise was a delight as Captain Larry entertained us with Seattle history, personal history, and wonderful music. The sites around Lake Union include the sea planes taking off and landing, vintage boats, the floating homes (around 300 floating in the water), Gas Works Park, “Sleepless in Seattle” house, and more. The lake was very active with water recreationalists who were all looking to enjoy the beautiful weather.
Ethan loved watching the sea planes land and take off. This area is the main “runway” for these planes so it provides a variety of planes to view.
When it came time for ice cream, we all opted for Root Beer floats. One chocolate and one vanilla float hit the spot for everyone.
